Five Favorites Friday: Refresh Yourself for Spring

Thank goodness it is Friday!

Although this week has absolutely flown by, it’s also been an insanely busy one that I’m really happy to say goodbye too. We’ve been up late nearly every night, haven’t really had any time to relax, and I have an entire collection of shows to watch on my DVR from the week. #firstworldproblems

But seriously, this has been a doozy of a week and after a giant work event tomorrow (that has me getting up at 4:45am on a Saturday… ouch), I will finally be able to relax! And we have some possibly really exciting news coming on Sunday if everything works out right, so I’m really just waiting for that. Just gotta make it to Sunday!

(And no, I’m not pregnant. Since it seems to be going around the blog world like there is something in the water.)

Anyway, even though it’s been a crazy one, there have been some good moments that I wanted to share!

Favorite New Product: IN Refresh from Ignite Naturals

I was sent a multipack of the IN Refresh drink from Ignite Naturals to try out, and let me tell you – it was love at first taste. This hydration and electrolyte-balancing drink (just a powder you mix with water) not only tastes awesome, but it’s made from completely natural ingredients. They sent me several flavors to try, and I can already tell you that I love them all: Blueberry, Tangerine Passion Fruit, and Dragonfruit Lemon Lime.

(While I received this product for free, I was not asked for my review. I’m honestly sharing this product because I thought it was delicious and was a great, natural alternative to many of the post-workout hydration drinks on the market!)

Favorite New Food Item: Green Curry Paste

I’ve had this recipe pinned on my “Food I must make” board forever, but for some reason this week when I was meal planning, it just called me name. I had most of the ingredients on hand (I subbed kale for collard greens and onion for shallots), except for the green curry paste, so I picked some up from Wegmans on Sunday.

I’ve never cooked with green curry paste before, so I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it or how it would turn out. But let me tell you, it was AMAZING! It was the perfect amount of spicy and curry-y (yes, that’s a word), without being overwhelming. Plus it was a nice way to add some kale into a recipe! We served it over brown basmati rice, and it was perfection.

Favorite Fitness Item (Again!): Polar Fitness Watch

Any of you who have been around here for awhile are probably thinking “um, what? You’ve had this watch since September, how is this a new favorite?” Well unfortunately my polar watch and I had a little falling out when its battery died and became a slight pain in the rear to replace.

But I FINALLY got a new battery in it last week, and I am realizing just how much I missed it! It’s so nice to be able to track your progress, especially if you are a type-A organizer like me. I know that these things aren’t 100% accurate, but I love being able to use it to help me determine how hard I’m working and where I need to push myself. I’m so happy to have this little purple guy back in my life!

Favorite Thing about Spring: Running Outside

I can seriously not say enough how much I am absolutely loving this warmer weather. I know it’s not 100% spring yet (at least according to mother nature) and some places are still getting blasted with snow, but even just being above 40 degrees seems like a miracle!

This weather also means that I’m finally able to get outside for my half marathon training runs, which is a MILLION times more enjoyable than running on a treadmill. All this week I’ve been getting in some easy short runs outside and loving every second of it!

Favorite New Podcast

Speaking of running outside – while I’m running I’ve been loving listening to podcasts to keep my mind distracted. This past week I discovered the High Impact Blogging podcast from Laura Williams at Girls Gone Sporty, and I’ve been absolutely loving it!

In each episode she talks to different big-name bloggers, youtubers or Fitness names. You hear about their background and their stories, but also about their advice for blogging, the tools they can’t live without, and tips for newer bloggers. I’ve loved getting to actually hear from some of the bloggers that I look up to, and it’s been a wealth of information!

So tell me: What are you loving this week? Anyone else tried any good new products or fitness tools lately? Any good suggestions for podcasts?

    Very curious about your big news, lady! Look forward to hearing about whatever it is that is so exciting :) the IN Refresh powder sounds interesting – I use nuun tablets sometimes when I run, and I do think that the electrolytes make a difference. Might have to try that brand out!

      I’ve only ever tried one flavor of the Nuun tablets before, and I wasn’t a fan of the taste. Are there some flavors that are better than others?

    And now you have officially given me a craving for some Thai or Indian food! Curry is soooo good. I like to make roasted curried cauliflower. And you are so speedy! I have finally gotten my running pace below 10 minutes after many, many speed runs.

    I am loving my kettle bells lately! Not sure if that counts as a fitness tool…but they are pretty fun!

      That definitely counts! We bought a set of kettlebells over black friday, and I still haven’t figured out a great way to use them yet. Any tips?

      If you’re a fan of green curry dishes, then I definitely recommend this one. It was so simple and delicious!! But I’m a huge curry fan, so maybe I’m just biased!

    My battery on my polar heart rate monitor died too!! I really should just order a new one on amazon….why are they so hard to find????
