Five Favorites Friday #30

I seriously couldn’t be more excited. Not only is it Friday, which means that we’re one workday away from the weekend, but it’s also the Friday before Christmas, so the real Holiday fun is about to start! From here on out, I’m all about Christmas movies and Christmas music 24/7. Gotta get my fill in before the holiday is over!

Anyway, let’s just jump right in to today’s Five Favorites Friday!

(Also, can we just say that I can’t believe I’m on FFF #30 already! Sheesh it’s been a crazy year!)

In case you aren’t familiar with Five Favorites Friday, it’s basically where I talk about five totally random things that I’ve been loving this week. And this week, they are definitely super random!

Favorite Puppy Picture: Sleepy Laney

Laney, who sleeps all day mind you, has been letting us know that she does not appreciate us going to bed so late the last few nights. By the time I’d come in to brush my teeth, she’d be curled up on the bed (in my spot, no less!) already half-asleep. The worst part is that then she decides that she doesn’t want to move from that spot and plays dead-weight-dog as you drag her to the bottom of the bed. Such a goofball!

Favorite Christmas Show (so far): Moscow Ballet’s The Nutcracker

A few months ago, my mother-in-law found a great deal on tickets to The Nutcracker, which was being performed at George Mason University by the Moscow Ballet. I’d seen the show once before, but definitely jumped at the opportunity to go see it again. It was absolutely beautiful, and my MIL and I kept talking on the way home about how effortless they make everything seem!

Although after watching Breaking Pointe this summer, it’s obvious that it is seriously hard work (for any other dance lovers out there, definitely check out that show. It was awesome!)

Totally worth seeing if you ever get the chance! Here is just a quick snippet of how amazing they are:

Favorite Way To Spread Christmas Cheer: Secret Santa!

I don’t know what it is, but I just love secret santa. It’s such a fun (and cost-friendly) way to spread the Christmas cheer and give presents. My office had a “graze-all-day” party today to celebrate the holidays and the gift exchange, which meant that everyone brought in snacky food to much on all day. Obviously it wasn’t the healthiest of meal days (I mean, we had donut holes and corned beef dip…), but I did my best to stay in the fruit and hummus corner instead of the donut and peppermint puppy chow corner!

Also, look what my secret santa got me! Isn’t it adorable? Clearly she knows me well: I love cooking and Virginia Tech. So a cutting board shaped like the state of VA with a special heart around Blacksburg? Best gift ever!

Favorite Recent Trend: Statement Necklaces

So I am NO fashionista by any means (in fact, I struggle just to remain moderately fashionable sometimes. I’m a tshirt and jeans girl 100%), but one thing that I’ve really been loving lately is statement necklaces. They really dress up an outfit, and can make even a plain shirt work appropriate. I got this one off of If you’ve never checked out their site before, I totally recommend it. There is some really great, creative stuff (a lot of it comes from etsy shops) for really amazing deals.

Favorite Recent Project: Christmas Mugs

When I was prepping for the wedding, I was basically constantly working on one craft project or another. However in the last year, I honestly have done very little at all! Which is really sad because I do really enjoy it, and for me it’s always a great way to destress. Plus I’m cheap, so every time I see something I like, I’m always like “Oh, I can make that!” Except I never do.

Anyway, I made these mugs for two of my coworkers for Christmas (they’ll be getting them today before this post goes up, so I’m not ruining the surprise) along with some hot cocoa mix. They are both really simple, but were a lot of fun to make. I definitely need to get back in to crafting on a regular basis! I have so many ideas!!

Well there you have it, five (seriously) random things that I’ve been loving this week. I think this might be the first week ever that no food or fitness related things are included. Whoops. It’s just kind of been one of those weeks. I hope you enjoyed it regardless!

Have a great weekend!

So tell me: What are you loving this week? Are you crafty?
