And we’re back to Monday!
At least it’s a good Monday though, because I get to go back to work! The crisis has finally ended, so we are all allowed to return back to the office. Part of me is excited to be able to get back to my normal routine (and normal paycheck!), but I’m not going to lie, part of me was enjoying having some time off to get some projects done around the house! I have this whole list of things I was planning on doing.
I guess I need to find more free time!
But now that we are back to Monday, it’s time to review my weekend. While this one wasn’t the most exciting weekend, it was definitely quite productive, so I consider that a success.
Sadly, I kind of majorly failed with taking pictures this weekend. My bad!
Friday evening was spent doing the usual. Cleaning the house, bible study with some of our church friends, and then just hanging out and chatting with people for awhile. I have to say, that has been one of the best things about joining the bible study at our church – we finally were able to meet people our age in the area!! I swear, we went way too long basically being hermits with no friends. We’re such homebodies. So it’s been nice to actually meet people!
Anyway, it was a pretty chill Friday night for us. We even ended up going to bed early because we had early morning plans! So lame!
Sadly, I don’t have ANY pictures of our Saturday morning activities (blogger fail!), but my mother-in-law and I basically spent the ENTIRE morning yard sale-ing!
Does that officially put me in grandma status?
My MIL’s neighborhood was having a giant neighborhood-wide community yard sale, so it was seriously gigantic. We drove past at LEAST 50 yard sales, and probably stopped at about 20 or so? I was really in the market for some nightstands for our guest bedroom that I could paint up and stuff, but didn’t really have any luck.
But I did manage to find a bunch of tools for Chris, one really cute framed print, a couple of books (about pregnancy, actually, not going to lie. NOT that I’m pregnant. But my MIL convinced me that I would be pregnant someday and they were 50 cents each. Have I mentioned before that I’m a cheapo?), a bundt pan, and a wrought iron table and chair set for our front porch. Not too shabby for under $30, right?
The rest of the day was spent doing projects around the house while Chris and his step-dad worked on yard stuff that I totally don’t understand. Grass and plants and trees + me, do not mix. It’s like speaking German.
One of the hardest things for us, though, was that we had to stay off of ALL forms of social media because we were DVRing the VT football game, and we didn’t want to know what happened!! So once all of the house/yard projects were finished, we headed over to my in-law’s to grill up some pizzas and FINALLY watch the game!
I had a slice of the red pizza, a salad, and a slice of a white pizza that somehow went unpictured. Seriously – grilling pizza might be my favorite thing ever. SO much better than a boring old baked one! Plus WAY less greasy than your delivery kind of pizza!
(Hokies won, btw, since I know you all were dying to hear the results!)
Once again I was up early to get the day going! What is going on with me lately?? All of this getting up early!
Probably just jinxed myself.
I was getting a little bored of my usual cereal, so I decided to take an extra 2 minutes and cook up some eggs! I paired it with these amazing banana oat muffins that I made on Saturday. I totally didn’t write down the recipe, but these WILL be reoccuring, and I will make sure to write the recipe down to share with you all!
I followed up breakfast with a trip to the gym for a class that I haven’t taken in AGES!!! Spin class!
I used to LOVE going to spin class when I lived in Culpeper, but the times at my new gym just aren’t as convenient so I havent been going. But lately I’ve been making it my goal to try out some new class and create a new routine for myself, so I popped out of bed extra early to make it to class.
And boy am I happy I did! I forgot just how much I love it! I seriously was a sweaty mess by the end!
After a SUPER quick shower and a few minutes of running around like a crazy person, I was back out the door to head out to Culpeper for a baby shower for one of my old coworkers!
Of COURSE, I managed to get zero pictures. Again, I suck. But it was so great to see everyone (it’s been at least 6 months since I’ve seen most of them), and to celebrate my lovely friend who is having her baby in November. Ah, baby fever is hitting me hard, guys!! So many cute things!!!!
Finally, Sunday night was topped off with our usual Sunday night routine – church and dinner with the in-laws! Wow, that was a lot of family time this weekend! Remember that I time I said that we have friends now? I promise we really do. haha.
Anyway, I hope you guys had a great weekend as well, and a terrific Monday!
So tell me: What did you do this weekend?
