And we’re back to Monday! I swear, weekend go by way to fast!
You’ll have to forgive me this morning for making this post a little short and sweet. I woke up this morning with a bit of stomach ache, so I’m running a little slow today. I’m hoping that I can make it through work, but we’ll see how this goes. Must have swallowed too much lake water yesterday!
Speaking of lake water, how about we just do a super quick recap of this weekend?
We met up with a bunch of friends after work on Friday to have (one of several) going away parties for one of our couple friends. They are getting ready to move halfway around the world, so it’s only fitting that they get a week-long send-off, right? And because we’re just really, REALLY going to miss them!
We started out a Giorgio’s, a local Italian/Greek restaurant, where the plates are literally the size of your head. I put my hand in this one for comparison. Gigantic!
I ended up getting the Mediterranean Pasta, which included veggies, feta, chicken and a spicy sauce. It was delicious, but I could definitely only eat like 1/3 of this massive plate!
The best part was just getting to spend some quality time with these lovely ladies.
It was a pretty big group, so after dinner the girls spent some time chatting at the wine bar, while the guys headed off to Hooters. Classy, right? Eventually the wine bar closed, and we were forced to join them. It was first Hooters experience, and I have to say that I’m definitely not a fan. I guess I just don’t get it!
But it was at least worth it to spend a few more hours with some good friends. Even if that meant not getting home until the wee hours of the morning.
Since we got home at the crack of dawn, we decided to sleep in a bit before getting up for our run, even if that meant risking the heat.
Luckily it ended up being extremely overcast, so it wasn’t too terrible for our 10 mile run.
Guys, this was definitely a hard 10 miles. Because of varying circumstances, we’ve had to cut our last few long runs a bit short (8 scheduled miles ended up being 7, 9 miles ended up being 7 too), so it was a BIG jump to 10 miles this week. And I could definitely feel it! The first 5 miles were actually pretty great, minus a few mental blocks here and there. But mile 5 was a huge mental and physical struggle for me, until I was able to get it back together and struggle through the rest.
But we still finished in a decent amount of time, and considering the mileage jump, I’ll just consider the fact that we finished a major win.
Especially because literally 2 minutes after we finished our run, this happened:
I don’t know if you can tell in this picture, but it started POURING. Phew, perfect timing!
After all of the crazy festivities of this past week (and of the planned ones for next week), we decided to make it a chill day. First we headed off on some errands, including taking Laney to Petsmart. And watching her be fascinated by the birds, cats and fish. She’s such a goof!
Then it was off to Lowes, before coming home to spend the whole rest of the day working on house projects. I’m hoping to show you some of them soon once we can get them up on the walls!
Dinner was a random invention – burritos stuffed with brown rice, refried beans, ground turkey, and peppers, topped with enchilada sauce and cheese and broiled. I then topped mine with lettuce, tomato and greek yogurt. YUM!!!
Devoured while watching Iron Man 2. Because I’d never seen it and Chris decided that this needed to be fixed.
Sadly I actually have ZERO pictures from Sunday. It basically consisted of church in the morning, Moe’s for lunch (burritos 2 days in a row for the win!), and heading out to the lake again.
So basically, the day consisted almost entirely of this:
It really doesn’t get much better than spending an entire day at the lake with some of your really good friends! I will be really sad when two of them move away next week!!!
But let’s not talk about that…
There you have it – a super quick version of my weekend! Now hopefully this stomach ache can go away so I can actually enjoy this week!
So tell me: What did you do this weekend?
