Here we are, back at Monday again! Why does it always seem like the weekend goes by way too fast? Time flies when you’re having fun? Or something like that at least.
But as per usual on an early Monday morning, I’m struggling just a little bit. It was a super busy weekend for us and I have seriously not had enough time to recover!
In order to recap though, we need to go ALL the way back to Thursday! (Yup, it was that kind of a weekend!)
After work on Thursday I met up with of bunch of friends to celebrate my friend Brittany’s birthday! Per her request, we started out at Happy Hour at On The Border. Which meant that this guy happened… twice.
I didn’t get a picture of our food, but between our table we split a bunch of chips and salsa, queso and guac, mini quesadillas and mini tacos. Who doesn’t love mini sized food?? Especially when it costs a whopping $2! Haha.
After we were good an margaritaed up, we ended up at a local minor league baseball game. This was the first time I’ve been to one in FOREVER, and I will definitely say that I’ve been missing out – they are so much fun!
Definitely WAY different than a real major league game, but fun nonetheless. Our group spent a lot of time yelling ridiculous things at the players, cheering for totally random players that we decided that we liked, and trying to get the umpire to flex at us (which he did). A great time was had by all!
Minus the fact that we didn’t get home until past midnight, it was a great night!
I unfortunately had a bit of a stressful, drama-filled day on Friday, which wasn’t really the way that I was hoping to end my week. So Friday night ended up being pretty low-key.
We originally had plans to go with the same friends to the Fredericksburg Fair and Demolition Derby (how country, I know!), but I ended up passing thanks to a bit of a stomach ache. I’m bummed that I missed being able to hang out with my friends, but I decided that getting a little extra sleep was probably the better idea.
Chris and I were up early Saturday morning to get in our planning 9 mile run. Unfortunately, things did not go exactly as planned…
We usually walk about .25mi to the end of our street warm up, and then begin our run from there. However, as soon as we got to the end of the street, it started raining. Just our luck. So we decided to run back to the house, and then switch off on the treadmill until it stopped raining. Not really ideal, but it at least got the miles in. We both got a warm-up mile on the treadmill before we decided to brave the sprinkle and take our run back outside (because switching off for 9 mi would basically have taken forever!).
It was neither the best run ever, or the worst. There were a few moments where it was great (some faster miles that felt awesome), and some bad moments (like a lovely blister that formed on my toe and was killing me around mile 5 when it burst). Thanks to the delay in getting started, we decided to cut our run short to 7mi, because we had a whole list of things that needed to get done.
That list included a trip to the farmers market and a bunch of house cleaning, because we had friends coming in to town!
The rest of Saturday basically consisted of hanging out with our friends and showing them some of the cool things that Fredericksburg has to offer. Including a bar with 40+ beers on tap, and Fredericksburg Restaurant Week!
For resturant week, we ended up taking them to The Bavarian Chef (Chris and I have been to this location before, and to the original location!) Where the proportions are gigantic and you always leave stuffed to the brim!’
Our friend Erik and his giant liter of German beer!
We eventually headed home (stuffed I might add) and settled in for a night of movie watching!
We were up early on Sunday and headed out to downtown Fredericksburg with our friends to do some exploring. Eventually we ended up at foode for brunch (yup, the second time in 2 weeks!)
This time I changed it up and had a veggie and rice bowl. No clue what all was in it, but it was extremely delicious!
After saying goodbye to our friends Amber and Erik, Chris and I got ready for the second outing of the day – the Lake (<—again, the second time in 2 weeks!)
Sadly I forgot my camera so I don’t have very many pictures, but we basically spent the entire afternoon attempting to learn how to wakeboard (way harder than it looks, PS), knocking each other off of tubes, and relaxing on the boat. The weather was glorious, and it was just a lot of fun to hang out with our friends for the day!
This is the only gem of a picture I have, thanks to my friend Brittany. Apparently I got started on Shark Week a day early…
How embarrassing! Luckily I have great friends to laugh with, so it’s all worth it.
(PS – I’m pretty sure this is my friend Jaci telling us how she thought babies were made as a child…)
By the time Chris and I got home, we were literally WIPED OUT. We scarfed a little bit of leftovers and completely and totally passed out!
Well there you have it, my super crazy, friend-filled weekend. The best kind, obviously! Now it’s back to the Monday morning grind… once I get some extra coffee that is!
So tell me: What did you do this weekend?
